Interesting Facts About Invisalign That You Must Know
Posted on 11/8/2021 by Thomas Wold, DMD
Like any treatment, Invisalign has its own curious data that can affect users. To better educate you about it, here we share three of them!
You Must Wear Your Aligners Pretty Much All Day
If you want to see fast results, you need to wear your aligners every day, for as long as possible. In our clinic, we always recommend our patients to use their aligners for a minimum of 22 hours a day, especially the first 48 hours, so they can adapt to them. You should avoid taking them off, with the only exceptions being tooth brushing, eating, and drinking time.
Your Speech Will Change, Slightly
One of its few downsides is that Invisalign aligners can alter the way you speak. When you put them on for the first time, you will have a slight lisp. It is important that you prepare yourself mentally for this. There is nothing you can do to prevent it as it is a natural reaction to putting something in your mouth. You must know that you will not have this lisp forever. It is only a matter of time, generally only a couple of days until you get to speak as you always have.
The Length Of Your Treatment Will Depend On Your Case
Before starting your Invisalign treatment, you should know how long it will last. On average, our adult patients use Invisalign for one year. Obviously, it all depends on the initial condition of your teeth and how much work you need. If you have a mild misalignment or malocclusion, the treatment may last a couple of months, but it will be longer if you have a lot of misaligned teeth. In our offices, our dentists will guide you through your Invisalign process and its optimal duration. Visit us and discover its great benefits through an appointment today!
