Our office has a variety of techniques and tools that we can use to address oral care issues, ranging from basic routine cleanings to installing dental implants after a tooth is extracted. One device in which our team is trained is the dental veneer, which is a type of cap that fits over the front of the tooth. Though it is often used for cosmetic purposes, it can also be applied as an alternative to more invasive solutions such as crowns or bridges. Contact our office today to learn more about dental veneers.
Installing a Veneer
The first step is a consultation, where our team meets with the patient to verify that the patient is a candidate for veneers. Patients with significant oral problems such as tooth decay or gum disease will often not qualify for veneers. When patients do qualify, we take x-rays and molds of their mouth to custom-make the veneers for the specific teeth. The next visit involves our team removing a thin layer of enamel from the teeth that will receive the veneers. For the third visit, our team fits the veneers onto the teeth, using a composite resin and special light to hold the veneers in place. Subsequent visits will inspect the status of the veneers.
Benefits of Veneers
Most veneers will last up to ten years with proper oral hygiene. Replacing a veneer is a simple process of removing the old veneer, taking another mold, and placing the new veneer on the tooth after applying composite resin. And veneers treat more than just cosmetic issues such as stains and discolorations. Veneers can be used to address chipped teeth, large gaps between teeth, unusually-small teeth, and unusually-shaped teeth.
If you wish to learn more about veneers, contact our office for a consultation. We will inspect your mouth and recommend and oral care treatment plan that's best suited for your unique situation.
